Agnes Dodds (19 October 1879 – 4 April 1989) was an Australian centenarian who was the oldest living person in Australia at the time of her death.

Biography[]

Dodds was born in Morpeth, New South Wales, Australia, on 19 October 1879. She spent most of her life in Woolbrook where she married a grazier, who died more than 60 years before her.

For some time, she lived in Woolbrook, New South Wales. She spend the last 10 years of her life in a nursing home. After her death, her doctor, Ron Mackinnon, said Mrs Dodds, a non-smoker and teetotaller, had remained active until about a week before her death. Dr. Mackinnon also said that Dodds had lived so long because she was "a well-balanced and cultured person who never appeared to get anxious about anything". At the time of death, she had a son, a daughter, 3 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Dodds died in Walcha, Northern Tablelands, New South Wales, Australia, on 4 April 1989, at the age of 109 years, 167 days. She was buried in Woolbrook at 10 AM of 6 May 1989.
