Agnes Edith Helyar (née Greenwood; 19 September 1866 – 12 March 1976) was a British centenarian who was the oldest validated living person in the United Kingdom at the time of her death.
Biography[]
Agnes Helyar was born as Agnes Edith Greenwood on 19 September 1866 to George Porter Greenwood (born 1832) and Elizabeth Anna Morgan (born 1839). She had four siblings, including Albert Edward. In 1891, she married Edward Purser Helyar (born 1865).
Agnes Helyar became the oldest living person in United Kingdom following the death of Rose Heeley on 24 December 1975. She died in Abbots Langley, Hertfordshire, England on 12 March 1976 at the age of 109 years, 175 days. Following her death, James Harrow became the UK's oldest living person.
