Agnes Mary Rich (née Brix; 20 January 1892 – 31 December 2003) was an American supercentenarian whose age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG). She was the oldest known person in the state of Georgia at the time of her death.
Biography[]
Agnes Rich was born Agnes Mary Brix in Wisner, Nebraska, USA, on 20 January 1892 as the second of eight children born to Frank and Rosalia (née Urbanek) Brix. She travelled with her family to Arcola, Texas when she was three years old. In 1914, when she was 22, she married her first husband Jay Yoho and had a son, Jack (born 1920), with him. They both passed away in 1953.
The following year, in 1954, Agnes married Edward Rich, who passed away 14 years later in 1968. Rich later moved to Georgia to live with her granddaughter Nancy Beazley. Her claim was verified by E. A. Kral and Robert Young and validated by the GRG on 30 April 2002.
Rich passed away in Augusta, Georgia, USA, on 31 December 2003 at the age of 111 years, 345 days. One of her sisters, Gretchen Talley (1904-2009), lived to be 104 years, 203 days old.
