Ai Maeda [Japanese: 前田 あい] (27 March 1912 – 15 June 2024) was a Japanese supercentenarian whose age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG). She was the oldest living person in Aomori Prefecture at the time of her death.
Biography[]
Ai Maeda was born in Aomori City, Aomori Prefecture, Japan on 27 March 1912.
On 14 April 2021, following the death of 109-year-old Suekichi Ogasawara, she became the oldest living person in Aomori Prefecture.
In March 2022, she celebrated her 110th birthday and became a supercentenarian.
Maeda's age was verified by the MHLW Japan and Aomori City, and validated by the GRG on 24 June 2023.
Ai Maeda died in Aomori City, Aomori Prefecture, in 18 June 2024 Japan at the age of 112 years, 80 days. On 1 July 2024, Maeda was moved into limbo as a 107-year-old woman was reported to be the oldest living person in Aomori Prefecture.
