Ai Shinohara (4 January 1913 – 13 August 2024) was a Japanese supercentenarian whose age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).
Biography[]
Ai Shinohara was born in Japan on 4 January 1913. When she was a child her father was a captain she would often go with her father on voyages.
Her husband Kamenosuke Shinohara was a Doctor of Pharmacology who invented a reagent kit for biochemical testing during World War II. Mrs. Shinohara herself established a company named Shino-test Laboratory and was the first company to manufacture and sell clinical testing kits and her company is still a industry leader and continue to contribute to global healthcare.
On 4 January 2023 she turned 110 and became a supercentenarian.
She died on 13 August 2024 at the age of 111 years, 222 days.
