Aileen Kars (born 12 September 1913) is a New Zealand supercentenarian who is currently the oldest known person living in New Zealand. Her age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).She is the oldest known living person from Oceania
Biography[]
Aileen Kars was born in on the farm Burnbrae in Tokomaru, Manawatu-Whanganui, New Zealand on 12 September 1913.
Kars lived independently until the day before her 100th birthday in 2013, where it was decided that she would move into a retirement home. She credits her longevity to drinking lots of water and being happy.
Kars became the oldest known living person in New Zealand following the death of 110-year-old Joan Brennan on 29 July 2022.
In September 2023, Kars celebrated her 110th birthday and became a supercentenarian.
Kars' age was verified by Oliver Trim and Waclaw Jan Kroczek, and validated by the GRG on 3 December 2023.
Aileen Kars currently lives in a retirement home in Palmerston North, Manawatu-Whanganui, New Zealand at the age of 111 years, 81 days.
