Albert Middleton (born 11 March 1915) is a British-Canadian centenarian and WWII veteran who is currently the oldest known living man in Canada.

Biography[]

Albert Middleton was born in England on 11 March 1915. He was sent to Canada as a teenager by the U.K.'s National Children's Home and Orphanage. He worked at an apple orchard in Brantford, Ontario, to pay for his passage west. In 1943, he joined the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) and served overseas during WWII.

Following the war, he bought a 26-hectare farm which he operated while working at factories in Ontario. He was married and widowed twice, and had three children, including Wayne Middleton and Darlene van Raay.

He later moved to British Columbia, where he lived in Victoria before moving into the Veterans Memorial Lodge care home in Saanich at the age of 101. At the age of 108, he said he could still "cut a rug", and he has been described as "an unfailingly cheerful and kind-hearted person."

Following the death of 111-year-old Reuben Sinclair on 27 August 2023, he became the oldest living WWII veteran in Canada and the oldest known living man in Canada.

Middleton currently lives in Saanich, British Columbia, at the age of 109 years, 270 days.
