Albertha Davis (16 March 1910 – 19 May 2020) was a Jamaican supercentenarian whose age is currently unvalidated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG). At the time of her death, she was the third-oldest known living person in Jamaica, after Eslin Mulgrave-Collins and Eunis Pryce.
Biography[]
Davis was born on 16 March 1910 in Hanover, Jamaica, but moved to Westmoreland, Jamaica when she was a child. She had a twin sister, Adlyn Davis, who lived to the age of 98. Throughout her life, Davis worked as a farmer, a domestic helper, and a cleaner at a bakery.
As a single parent, Davis raised ten children, four of whom predeceased her. At the time of her death, her eldest child, Gertrude Barr, was still living at the age of 91. As of 2020, Davis had 35 grandchildren, 68 great-grandchildren, and 37 great-great-grandchildren.
In her later years, Davis developed glaucoma and was bedridden as a result. It was reported that she was in high spirits until she deteriorated in the last two weeks of her life. She died in Williamsfield, Westmoreland, Jamaica on 19 May 2020 at the age of 110 years, 64 days.
