Alda Mae Collins (née Hoffman; 26 July 1902 – 29 September 2013) was a validated American supercentenarian.
Biography[]
Collins was born as Alda Hoffman on 26 July 1902, the eldest of Henry and Lucy (Weigle) Hoffman's nine children. Alda voted in every election since 1920 (which was the first election women could vote in) until 2012. She married William Collins in 1924, and they had two sons. William died in 1976. Collins taught in a one-room schoolhouse in a rural part of the county she lived in. Collins lived alone until she was 102 years old.
There was also a history of longevity in her family: her mother lived to be 91, her sister Olive Golby lived to be 97 and her sister Virginia Hoover lived to be 100.
Alda Collins died on 29 September 2013 at the age of 111 years, 65 days.
