Alice Sjoquist [Sjöquist] (neé Stone; 25 October 1878 – 7 November 1991) was a validated British-Canadian supercentenarian.
Biography
Alice Sjoquist was born as Alice Stone in Ewhurst, Sussex, England, United Kingdom on 25 October 1878. Her parents were Oliver Wilfred Stone and Esther Stone. During her life, she was a nurse, midwife and charity volunteer. In 1910, she married Oscar Sjoquist, and the couple moved to British Columbia, Canada in 1912, settling in Kamloops in 1914. They had one child, Norman Oscar Sjoquist (1910 - 1978).
Sjoquist continued to live in Kamloops for the next 63 years. She became a widow following Oscar's death in March 1959. Sjoquist later moved to a care facility called "Ponderosa Lodge", where she died on 7 November 1991, at the age of 113 years, 13 days. She was validated by the Gerontology Research Group on 26 September 2009.
