Alicia Castillo was born in Girardot, Cundinamarca, Colombia on 28 January 1906. She never married, but had at least two daughters. She moved to Cali, Valle del Cauca, when she was 70 years old. In her supercentenarian years, she suffered from dementia. However, she was always able to recognize her two daughters. At the age of 112, she was still able to walk a bit around while assisted by someone. She may have been the oldest living person in Colombia from the death of [[Ana Sara Marquez de Ramirez]] until her own death.
