Biography[]
Aline Vassiljev was born as Aline Baumann in Russian Empire (now Estonia) on 16 April 1887. Her parents were Kustav Baumann and Marie Karro. She married Peeter Vassiljev, and they had three children.
Following the death of 106-year-old August Turp on 3 June 1993, Vassiljev became the oldest living person in Estonia.
Aline Vassiljev died in Iisaku, Ida-Viru County, Estonia on 11 January 1996, at the age of 108 years, 266 days. At the time of her death, she was the oldest known woman who ever died in Estonia (since Maria Tomson's claim to age 112 is disputed). Her age was surpassed by an anonymous woman (1904–2014) around August 2013.
