Alois Mayrhofer (2 June 1913 – 3 June 2020) was an Austrian centenarian who was believed to have been the oldest living man in Austria at time of his death.

Biography[]

Alois Mayrhofer was born in Kirchschlag in der Buckligen Welt, Lower Austria, Austria-Hungary on 2 June 1913. His parents were Johann Mayrhofer and Anna (née Picher) Mayrhofer.

At the some point in life, he funded a company called "Druckerei Mayrhofer".

He worked as actor from 1932 to 2015.

He married Magdalena Riegler (born 3 June 1920) in 1946‬ and had three children. In 2013, the couple celebrated 67 years of marriage. That same year, Mayrhofer turned 100.

From 1950 to 1965, he worked as a town council and from 1965 to 1970 as a managing town council.

He was elected as a agricultural board member in 1967. In 1968, he was elected deputy chairman and in 1976, he took over the function of chairman for 14 years. In 1989 he ended his work for the agricultural community for reasons of age.

He was a member of the German Economic Association since 1 January 1945. In 1972, he was awarded the Silver Badge of Honor for special merits. In 1995, he received a certificate of honor for his 50 years of service.

On his 105th birthday (2018), he presented his latest book "Mein Leben in Wahrheit".

He was believed to have been the oldest living man in Austria upon the death of 106-year-old Marko Feingold (1913–2019) on 19 September 2019, depending if Erich Ohlinger was still alive or not at the time.

Alois Mayrhofer died in Kirchschlag in der Buckligen Welt, Lower Austria, Austria on 3 June 2020 at the age of 107 years, 1 day. At time of his death, he had three grandchildren. Following his death, 106-year-old Anton Kronberger (1913–2020) became the oldest known living man in Austria.
