Amanda Luraina Seals nee Payne (22 February 1814?/1845 – 1 February 1940) was a False Exaggeration Claim and a Former Slave.
Biography[]
According to her obituary, Mrs. Amanda Seals was a native to Howard County, Maryland, USA. She died at her granddaughters house, Mrs. Amanda Smith in Huntsville. Social security records show her as 95 years of age, which makes her birth 22 February 1845, but she claimed she was born in 1814. Most of the proof was through proof of age of her daughter who died in June 1926. Amanda said to have remembered the Civil War and also remembered incidents occurring at the time she and her parents were freed of their slavery. Amanda is remembered by her husband, a daughter and a son. Including three granddaughters Mrs. Smith, Mrs. Hattie Burton, and Mrs. Magdaline Graves all of Huntsville. Three grandsons Everett Smith, Jefferson Barracks, and Ellis and Olean Smith of Kansas City, and several great grandchildren. She died at the claimed age of 125 years, 344 days, but she was actually only 95 years old.
