America Delaney (née Davis, formerly Ransom; 12 December 1874 – 6 September 1985) was an American supercentenarian whose age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).
Biography[]
Delaney was born on a farm in Bourbon County, Kentucky, United States, on 12 December 1874 (claimed 1879) as the fourth of six children born to Frank and Elizabeth Davis. She married James Ransom and they had a daughter, Henrietta, in 1895 or 1896. The couple later divorced, and America married Mason "Mace" Delaney before 1920. He died on 17 September 1958.
Delaney was a cook and domestic worker for several families. She was also a longtime member of St. Paul United Methodist Church and was a member of the local senior citizens group.
Delaney died in Paris, Kentucky, United States, on 6 September 1985 at the age of 110 (claimed 105) years, 268 days. She had outlived all of her siblings, but was survived by her daughter, Henrietta Jackson.
