Maria del Amparo Porris Herrero (21 May 1906 – 14 January 2017) was a Spanish-born Argentinian supercentenarian whose age was validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG) on 26 March 2021.
Biography[]
Amparo was born in Ganame, Bermillo de Sayago, Zamora province, Castile and Leon region, Spain on 21 May 1906. She was the daughter of Jose Porris and Maria Herrero Diego, who had eleven children of whom six died shortly after birth. When she was one year old, using a Highland Watch boat, she emigrated to Argentina with her mother and a brother on 10 November 1907 in order to be reunited with her father, who had already emigrated before. She married Juan Hernández, with whom she had three children: Juan Jose, Roberto Luis and Nilda Amparo.
Amparo resided in Carhue, Buenos Aires province, Argentina at the time of her death on 14 January 2017 at the age of 110 years, 238 days.
