Ana "Anita" Faustina Tejada de Valdes (born 9 February 1915) is a Colombian supercentenarian who is currently the oldest known living person in Colombia. Her age is currently unvalidated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG) and pending validation by LongeviQuest (LQ).
Biography[]
Ana Faustina Tejada was born in Popayán, Cauca Department, Colombia, on 9 February 1915. She was christened on 28 February 1915. Due to poverty, she couldn't go to school, so her father bought her a sewing machine, and worked as a seamstress. She married Matías Valdes and had five children together: Nelly, Esperanza, Ligia, Adolfo, and Zenayda.
When she was asked to give advice to her grandchildren, she said, “Be kind, behave well with everyone.” Patience is the best way to handle your marriage, she advised. She described her married life as a good relationship. She loves her husband dearly and spoils him. Love is what makes her happy, she stated. She was able to raise her children and help them to become significant; she loves seeing them with their families. When asked about her longevity she exclaimed that it's all in God's hand and a gift from Him. She also said she never got ill since her childhood.
At the age of 109 (almost 110), she was described as lucid, able to stand, and cheerful.
On 11 June 2025, following the death of 110-year-old Maria Teresa Madrid, she became the oldest known living woman in Colombia.
On 10 October 2025, following the death of 111-year-old Julio Saldarriaga Hernandez, she became the oldest known living person in Colombia.
Ana Faustina Tejada currently lives in Suba, Bogotá, Capital District, Colombia, at the age of 110 years, 350 days. Her living descendants include 4 children, 3 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren.
