Andre Boite [French: André] (6 December 1910 – 15 July 2022) was a French supercentenarian whose age is currently unvalidated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG). At the time of his death, he was the oldest known living man in Europe.

Biography[]

Andre Boite was born in Argent-sur-Sauldre, Cher, Centre-Val de Loire, France on 6 December 1910. During World War II, he enlisted in the Free Corps and was a prisoner of war deported to Bavaria.

He married Yvette Torrens on his 41st birthday in 1951, in Bougarez (Algeria, then French Algeria). The couple had three children, one daughter and two sons, one of whom is now deceased. Yvette died of Alzheimer's disease in 2017 at the age of 95.

He studied fine arts, and participated in the restoration of paintings in Sissi Castle, Schonbrunn, Vienna and Notre-Dame de Paris. From 1966, he invested in tourism and taking part in a tourism advisory committee in London and Berlin. He drove until the age of 99.

At the age of 108, Boite could reportedly still walk in his flat with the help of a walker. In December 2020, he celebrated his 110th birthday.

For the occasion of his 111th birthday in 2021, Boite was visited by the mayor of Nice, Christian Estrosi.

Boite died in Nice, Alpes-Maritimes, Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur, France on 15 July 2022 at the age of 111 years, 221 days. At the time of his death, he was the second-oldest known living person in Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur, behind Lucile Randon, and the fourth-oldest known living person in France, behind Lucile Randon, Juliette Bilde, and Marie-Rose Tessier.

Following the death of Olga Covili on 11 January 2021, he became the oldest living person in Alpes-Maritimes. Following the death of Jules Theobald on 5 October 2021, he became the second-oldest known living man in France.

Following the death of Marcel Meys on 15 December 2021, he became the oldest known living man in France, as well as the last known surviving French man born before 1912.

At the time of his death, he was the penultimate known remaining French person born in 1910, next to Marie-Rose Tessier.

Following the death of Saturnino de la Fuente Garcia on 18 January 2022, he became the second-oldest known living man in Europe.

Following the death of Stanislaw Kowalski on 5 April 2022, he became the oldest known living man in Europe, and the second-oldest known living European-born man, behind Delio Venturotti.

He became the oldest known living European-born man, following the death of Italian-born Delio Venturotti of Brazil on 1 June 2022. He held that title until his own death on 15 July 2022.
