Biography[]

Angela Case was born in Castelfranco Veneto, Veneto, Italy on 21 July 1899. In 1918, aged 17, she had to leave her birthplace when the battle of Caporetto took place. As a refugee in Bari, Puglia, she met her future husband Salvino Petrone. Angela and Salvino fled to Brazil as Salvino's family did not approved their marriage since Angela was considered to be 'too poor' for Salvino. They stayed in South America for six years.

In 1945, they moved back to Castelfranco Veneto. They had four children: Maria, Benita, Teresa, and Cataldo. Maria died in 1999. In 1995, Angela moved to the 'Domenico Sartor' retirement home.

On her 112th birthday in 2011, she was still in good health and her memory remained lucid. She reportedly never drank alcohol or smoked.
