Anna Gawlowska [Polish: Anna Gawłowska] (6 June 1913 - 19 July 2024) was a Polish supercentenarian whose age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG). She held the title of Doyenne of Poland; however, she was the second-oldest known living person in Poland, behind Jadwiga Zak-Stewart whose age remains unvalidated.

Biography[]

Anna Gawlowska was born in Cieszyn, Austria-Hungary (present-day Poland) on 6 June 1913. In 1936, she got married; and in 1947, she moved to Czerwionka. She gave birth to a son and a daughter.

She became the oldest living person in Silesia Voivodeship following the death of 116-year-old Tekla Juniewicz on 19 August 2022. After Tekla Juniewicz, Anna Gawlowska is also the second supercentenarian noted in the history of Silesia Voivodeship.

In June 2023, she celebrated her 110th birthday and became a supercentenarian. At the age of 110, she also had one grandchild and two great-grandchildren, and at that time she lived with her daughter Urszula.

She became the second-oldest known living person in Poland, following the death of 111-year-old Jozefa Ciesielska on 3 August 2023.

On 18 August 2023, the Gerontology Research Group announced on the World Supercentenarian Forum that Anna Gawlowska had been given the pending status. Her age has been fully validated on 12 November 2023.

On 13 November 2023, Waclaw Jan Kroczek visited Anna Gawlowska again honoring her for the 105th Anniversary of Polish Independence.

On 15 May 2024, Anna Gawlowska was paid a visit by a team of foreign researchers and scientists including Natalie Coles, the wife of Dr. L. Stephen Coles.

Anna Gawlowska died in Czerwionka-Leszczyny, Silesia Voivodeship, Poland on 19 July 2024 at the age of 111 years, 43 days.
