Anna Josefina Hagman (née Nordstrom; 27 December 1895 – 18 April 2006) was a supercentenarian from the Aland Islands (which is a territory of Finland). She is most likely the oldest person ever from the Aland Islands. Her case is validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).[1]
Biography
Anna Hagman was born as Anna Josefina Nordström on 27 December 1895 in Saltvik, Aland Islands, Russian Empire (now Finland). She had a daughter, Astrid, at the age of 22 in 1918. She had 3 other children, a daughter and 2 sons. Both of her daughters were still alive (as of Hagman's 110th birthday), but both her sons were deceased. Anna worked as a maid.
Anna moved into a nursing home in Saltvik when she was 106 or 107. According to her daughter Astrid Lundberg (who was 87 at the time of her mother's 110th birthday) her secret to living a long life is cheerfulness, positivity and the desire to work hard.[2]
Anna Hagman became the oldest person in Finland when Hilda Hakkinen died on New Year's Eve 2005, aged 111 years, 288 days. Anna would hold the title until she herself died in on 18 April 2006, at the age of 110 years, 112 days[3]. Her successor as the oldest living person in Finland was then-109-year-old Elsa Tilkanen.
