Anna (Annie) Rohling (12 July 1875 – 15 August 1985) was a Czech-born American supercentenarian whose age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG). At the time of her death, she was the oldest known living Czech-born person and the oldest known living person in Minnesota.

Biography[]

Anna Rohling was born in Mlada Vozice, South Bohemia, Austria-Hungary (present-day Czech Republic) on 12 July 1875. She moved to the United States with her family in 1876, with her parents who were farmers. She grew up in Glencoe, Minnesota with her nine siblings.

She married Herman Rohling and had 10 children. They lived a farm, where she worked as a midwife for 30 years. They retired in 1941, and Herman died in 1947.

After years of living with her children, she moved to the New Brighton Care Center in 1972 at the age of 97. Even as she passed her 100th birthday in 1975, she was active, winning bowling awards and occasionally dancing the hula at parties.

One sister died around 1983 at the age of 102 and one brother died in his 90s.

Rohling died in Ramsey, Minnesota, USA on 15 August 1985 at the age of 110 years, 34 days. She was survived by three sons Herman, Martin, and Henry; five daughters Gertrude Beauregard, Marge Olson, Tillie Rybak, Mary Mayme Neuman, and Victoria Karney; 17 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and 15 great-great-grandchildren.
