Anna Rust (October 11, 1889 – August 15, 2000) was an American verified supercentenarian. She was born as Anna Miller in Woodville Township, Sandusky County, Ohio, to parents John and Bertha Miller. In school, she was mainly educated in German language. She helped raising her younger brothers, in a house that her father built, until she was 28 years old. Rust was a Lutheran Christian.
On May 16, 1917, she married Otto Rust. The couple had one son, Luther. She took care of the household, gardening and farming. She was known in the neighbourhood for her cookies. She became a widow on May 20, 1970.
When she was 99 years old, she fell and fractured her hip. As a result, she moved to a nursing home. She ate her first pizza and went on her first airplane ride at age 100. In February 2000, her son Luther died. Her secret to longevity was farming. She also stated (on her 107th birthday) that she never worried about problems that were beyond her power. She neither smoked nor drank, and always ate healthy. She stated that she wouldn’t mind living to be 115 years.
Anna Rust died on August 15, 2000, at the age of 110 years, 309 days. Her cause of death was congestive heart failure.
