Annie Elizabeth Butler (née Allen; 4 June 1897 – 28 September 2009) was a validated British supercentenarian who was the second-oldest living person in the United Kingdom - behind Florrie Baldwin - at the time of her death.
Biography
Butler was born in Barford, England. In 1922, she married Edward Butler, and the couple moved to the nearby town of Warwick. During her adult years, she worked as a tailor. She later moved to New Milton with her husband after his retirement.
After being widowed, Butler returned to Warwickshire, where she lived in a flat by herself until she was 112. In her later years, she enjoyed making clothes, reading and listening to her music. Her son, Peter, believed that his mother's longevity was influenced by her clean-living lifestyle.
Butler died on 28 September 2009. She was the last surviving British person born in 1897.
