Phyllis Annie Rideout (née Topp; 21 July 1907 – 24 October 2017) was a British supercentenarian whose age is currently unvalidated by the Gerontology Research Group. She was the oldest resident in the county of Hampshire at the time of her death.
Biography
Rideout was born as Phyllis Annie Topp above her family's butcher shop in Brockenhurst, Hampshire, England. Her parents were Douglas and Mabel Topp and she had one brother, John. As a child, she moved to nearby Lymington. After the First World War, her family moved to Portland, Dorset, where she worked as a waitress.
Annie married Gideon Rideout when she was in her early 20s, and they were married until he died in 1992 aged 92. They had six children, with 21 years between the first and last. During WWII she ran a boarding house in Portland where many naval and American personnel stayed. After she finished raising her children, her aunt came to live with her and she cared for her full-time. She later cared for her mother and Gideon before their deaths.
Rideout lived in New Milton, Hampshire, England, where she celebrated her 110th birthday in July 2017. She had 14 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. One of her grandchildren is Paul Rideout, a professional footballer who scored the winning goal for Everton in the 1995 FA Cup final against Manchester United.
Annie died on 24 October 2017 in New Milton, Hampshire, England at the age of 110 years, 95 days.
