Iori Minamoto (29 April 1907 – 30 April 2022) was a Japanese supercentenarian whose age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).
Biography
Iori Minamoto was born in Japan on 29 April 1907. Following the death of Hama Yasukawa on 23 May 2021, she became the oldest known living person in Hyogo Prefecture.
Her age was verified by Yu Li, Yumi Yamamoto, and MHLW, Japan, and validated by the Gerontology Research Group on 26 November 2021.
She became the second-oldest validated living person in Japan, following the death of Kane Tanaka on 19 April 2022.
Iori Minamoto died in Miki, Hyogo Prefecture, Japan on 30 April 2022 at the age of 115 years, 1 day.[1] At the time of her death, she was the second-oldest living person in Japan, after Fusa Tatsumi, and was also the sixth-oldest validated living person in the world, after Lucile Randon, Tekla Juniewicz, Maria Branyas Morera, Casilda Benegas, and Fusa Tatsumi. Following her death, 113-year-old Tomiko Itooka (of Ashiya) became the oldest known living person in Hyogo Prefecture.
She remained the oldest validated person ever from Hyogo Prefecture, until Tomiko Itooka surpassed her age on 25 May 2023. She was also the first person on record from her prefecture to reach the age of 115.
