Arnold Leissler (21 May 1911 – 13 March 2021) was a German-born Polish centenarian who was the oldest living German-born man at time of his death.
Biography[]
Arnold Leissler was born in Hannover, Lower Saxony, Germany, on 21 May 1911. There he grew up, educated as an architect, started a family and worked. He never thought about moving to another city, never to another country. Four years ago he left his old life and moved to Poland, where he lived in a small village of Staw, Lubiszyn Municipality, Lubuskie Voivodeship located 60 kilometers from the Polish-German border. His hobby was painting.
His son Arnold Leissler, Jr (3 July 1939 – 27 December 2014) was a painter and graphic artist.
Arnold Leissler died in Staw, Lubiszyn Municipality, Lubuskie Voivodeship, Poland on 13 March 2021 at the age of 109 years, 296 days. He was the oldest living German-born man and the second-oldest living man in Poland behind Stanislaw Kowalski at time of his death.
