Arpadne Juhasz [Hungarian: Juhász Árpádné] (born 14 May 1914) is a Hungarian supercentenarian who is currently the oldest known living person in Hungary. Her age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).
Biography[]
Arpadne Juhasz was born in Gyor, Gyor-Moson-Sopron County, Austria-Hungary (present-day Hungary) on 14 May 1914. Her father left her family early, but her mother filled the void left behind very well and raised her to "believe that there was nothing more important than a loving, close-knit family."
She worked as an assistant to a doctor at the Richards factory in Gyor for decades, and retired from there in 1970.
As of her 100th birthday in 2014, she was still very active and was able to walk unassisted. She was, according to her family, incredibly youthful for her age. She also loved to sunbathe. She credits her longevity to staying active and moving as much as she can throughout her whole life. At the age of 108, she is no longer able to walk, and now uses a wheelchair to move around.
She became the oldest known living person in Hungary, following the death of 111-year-old Istvanne Fejes on 17 December 2022.
In May 2024, she celebrated her 110th birthday and became a supercentenarian.
Arpadne Juhasz currently lives in Gyorujbarat, Gyor-Moson-Sopron County, Hungary at the age of 110 years, 211 days.
