Audrey "Peggy" Stratton (née Hellyer; 18 February 1900 – 3 June 2010) was an American supercentenarian, whose age is officialy validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).
Biography[]
Audrey Stratton was born in Blatchford, Ohio, USA on 18 February 1900. Her parents were Ira Sylvester Hellyer and Kathryn Ellen (née Lanning) Hellyer. She had six siblings: four sisters and two brothers.
She taught Elementary school in Athens and Hocking County, Ohio. She attended Ohio University and worked as a secretary for Stratton Motors and Wright Insurance Agency, both of Nelsonville, Ohio.
She married Henry Edward Stratton and had one son Joe Edward Stratton. She was widowed in 1938.
Members of her family had also experienced longevity: her father lived to be 92, her aunt Rosa Robey lived to be 93, her brother Charles Hellyer lived to be 91, her sister Ethel Powell lived to be 102, her sister Lillian Wilson lived to be 101.
Audrey Stratton died in Logan, Ohio, USA on 3 June 2010 at the age of 110 years, 105 days. She is survived by one son, two grandsons, four great-grandchildren and five nieces.
