Augustin Rus (5 April 1910 – 2 June 2018) was a Romanian centenarian and World War II veteran who may have been the second oldest known living man in Romania at the time of his death, behind Dumitru Comanescu.
Biography[]
Augustin Rus was born in Romania on 5 April 1910. He was a child when the Great Union was established in 1918. He had five brothers and they all lived for more than 80 years. His wife died in early 2000s. They had two daughters. He fought in the Second World War. During the war, he was taked to Siberia as a prisoner.
Augustin Rus died in Ciceu-Giurgesti, Bistrita-Nasaud, Romania on 2 June 2018, at the age of 108 years, 58 days. At the end of his life, he had 4 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
