Avelina Lorenzo Berian [Spanish: Avelina Lorenzo Berián] (11 November 1911 – 23 October 2023) was a Spanish supercentenarian whose age was validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG) in 2022.
Biography[]
Avelina Lorenzo Berian was born on the street of Carlos La Torre de Toro in Toro, Castile and Leon, Spain on 11 November 1911. Her parents were the judge Miguel Lorenzo Limia and his wife Eladia Berian Enriquez. She had nine siblings.
She worked as a teacher. She was married with Sinesio Ruiz-Zorrilla for more than 60 years. The couple had one daughter: Canto. Avelina was 47 when Canto was born. Sinesio died of Alzheimer's disease at the age of 82.
In November 2021, she celebrated her 110th birthday and became a supercentenarian.
Avelina Lorenzo Berian died in Zamora, Castile and Leon, Spain at the age of 111 years, 346 days. She was the oldest known living person in Castile and Leon at the time of her death.
