Biography[]
Barbara Poth was born as Barbara Yunger in Perjámos, Austria-Hungary (present-day Periam, Romania) on 10 May 1882 into a family of presumably German ethnicity. She married Carl Poth [Károly Poth] (1879–1947). They emigrated to Cincinatti, Ohio, United States in the 1900s. The couple had one son (whom Barbara outlived) and one daughter.
Barbara worked as homemaker in her whole life. She had a reputation among family members as a wonderful cook and maker of quilts and crocheted tablecloths. After her husband's death in 1947, she lived with her son, Carl. At age 100, she moved to a nursing home. She took up bowling as a centenarian.
Barbara Poth died in Hamilton County, Ohio, USA on 4 January 1994, at the age of 111 years, 239 days. At the time of her death, she was the oldest living Romanian-born person.
