Bartholomew Pickens (1789 – 18 August 1900) was a British-American supercentenarian claimant according to his obituary.

Biography[]

Bartholomew Pickens claimed that he was born in 1789 in Scotland, UK. According to article about him said that Bartholomew was a Captain, serving in the Army in Mexico during the war. He arrived in California in 1849 and in 1850 was in Yuba County where Dr. C. E. Stone stated Capt Pickens was some 60 years old at that time and that he lived here for some 50 more years residing at Long Bar for most of those years where he grew grapes. When his niece, Mrs McDonald came from Ireland to live with him as his health started to fail, she had the records of his birth from the family bible that helped prove his age. He was single and died of Paralysis on 18 August 1900 in Marysville, Yuba, California, USA at the claimed age of 111 years. He was buried at the Marysville Cemetery and was believed to be Californias Yuba County oldest Inhabitant, his physician Dr. C. E. Stone said he knew Pickens in 1850 and then he was an old man who appears to be 60 years old.
