Beatrice Byfield (28 June 1907 – 26 August 2019) was a Jamaican supercentenarian who is currently unvalidated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).

Biography

Beatrice Byfield was born in Saint Ann, Jamaica on 28 June 1907. She moved with her parents to Rhoden Hall in Clarendon while still a child, where she grew up and did farming as a livelihood. Byfield was married at a young age before she started having her children. However, her husband died in 1973, so she took to caring for her children on her own, and never showed interest in another partner. She had 16 children, including Joe, Doreen and Epsy, and including one set of triplets. She resided in Kellitis, Shooters, Clarendon, Jamaica.

Reportedly, in 2007, when Byfield was 100, she would walk from her home in Kellits to Cross Hill or Fort George, some six miles away because she did not like travelling in vehicles.
