Beatrice Maud Pollock (née Miller; 2 March 1881 – 30 July 1992) was an Australian supercentenarian whose age is currently unvalidated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG). She may have been the oldest known person in Australia at the time of her death.
Biography
Beatrice Pollock was born Beatrice Maud Miller on 2 March 1881 in Tamworth, New South Wales, Australia to parents John and Sarah Jane (née Foot) Miller. She married James "Jim" Pollock in 1907 and had three children with him: Kenneth, Alan, and Ray. The family moved to Sydney in the early 1920s.
James Pollock died on 14 December 1965 after 58 years of marriage, by which time the couple had moved to Quirindi, New South Wales. By her 107th birthday, Pollock was living in a nursing home. On 16 November 1990, aged 109, she became the oldest known person in Australia following the death of 110-year-old Mary Hurley of South Australia.
Pollock died in Quirindi, New South Wales, Australia on 30 July 1992 at the age of 111 years, 150 days. She may have been the third-oldest Australian ever when she died, behind Caroline Mockridge and Jane Piercy. She was succeeded as Australia’s oldest person by 110-year-old Gertie Nesbitt.
