Bela Csendes [Hungarian: Csendes Béla] (8 November 1915 – 23 September 2021) was a Hungarian centenarian who the oldest known living man in Hungary at the time of his death.

Biography[]

Bela Csendes was born in Kiskunfelegyhaza, Bacs-Kiskun County, Austria-Hungary (now Hungary) on 8 November 1915. He worked as a farmer. He married and had two children (both deceased as of November 2018).

He lived in a farm in Suru-Tajo, Kiskunfelegyhaza with his family, but later moved to a home on Szelmalom, Kiskunfelegyhaza. He lived with his son-in-law Istvan Gal.

At the age of 103, he still can walk with the help of a cane. As of November 2018, he had four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

He became the oldest known living man in Hungary, following the death of 106-year-old Jeno Homonnay around 25 November 2020.

Csendes died in Kiskunfelegyhaza, Bacs-Kiskun County, Hungary on 23 September 2021 at the age of 105 years, 319 days. Following his death, then 105-year-old Jozsef Standovari became the oldest known living man in Hungary.
