Belia Engracia Cabezas Araya (30 August 1913 - 29 October 2024) was a Costa Rican supercentenarian whose age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).
Biography[]
Belia Engracia Cabezas Araya was born in Angeles, San Ramon, Alajuela, Costa Rica, on 30 August 1913. She was the fifth daughter born to parents Eleodoro Cabezas Quesada and Amada Ester Araya Salas.
A worker since childhood and accustomed to working hard in the fields, she made coffee plantations and pastures. She loved having her own cows and milking them. She also brought food to her family.
She never married nor had children. She always liked to sing. In August 2023, she celebrated her 110th birthday and became a supercentenarian.
Belia Engracia Cabezas Araya lived with her great-nieces,and died in Angeles, San Ramon, Alajuela, Costa Rica, at the age of 111 years, 60 days. At the time of her death, she was the second-oldest known living person in Costa Rica, behind Marita Camacho Quiros.
