Ricardo Bernardo "Ben" Statie (3 April 1914 – c.30 May 2019) was a Bonaire-Aruban centenarian who is currently the oldest known man ever born in Bonaire. He was also the oldest known man ever to reside in Aruba until James Williams surpassed his age around 18 February 2021.
Biography[]
Ben Statie was born in Bonaire on 3 April 1914. In April 2019, he celebrated his 105th birthday with the Prime Minister Evelyn Wever-Croes.
His sister Seferina Cicilia-Statie (1917–2019) who lived to be 102 years, c.76 days, was the oldest known living person in Bonaire at the time of her death.
Statie died in San Nicolaas, Aruba around 30 May 2019 at the age of 105 years, c.57 days. At the time of his death, he was the third-oldest known living person in Aruba, behind Maria Luisa Benjamin and Heloise Mossel-Suydon.
Legacy[]
In December 2020, a street in San Nicolaas, Aruba was named after Ricardo Bernardo Statie Street.
