Benjamin Melniker (25 May 1913 – 26 February 2018) was an American film producer and centenarian. He was an executive producer with Michael E. Uslan on the Batman film series and other DC Comics films. Melniker was also at one time a studio executive at MGM.
Biography[]
Melniker was born on 25 May 1913, in Bayonne, New Jersey, United States to Hyman Melniker and Lena Melniker and 3 siblings Annette Melniker, Catherine Melniker and Harry Melniker. Benjamin married Shirley Melniker in 1945 and 2 kids Harvey Melniker and Charles Melniker who died in 2012. He started out as an Entertainment Lawyer for Metro-Goldwyn-Meyer and rose through the ranks to an Executive Vice President. He was involved in the making of such films as: Ben Hur, DR. Zhivago, 2001-A Space Odyssey, and Gigi. He later became an Executive Producer of a number of films & television programs. He won an Emmy for Where On Earth Is Carmen Sandiego. His last movie was Scooby-Doo! & Batman: The Brave and the Bold released for a DVD on 9 January 2018. He was well known in the batman and movie community; he lived a movie star and died a centenarian. He died on 26 February 2018, in Roslyn, New York, United States, at the age of 104 years, 277 days. He left several children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and was buried at Mount Hebron Cemetery in Flushing, New York, United States.
