Bertha van Hasselt (24 November 1901 – 16 October 2009) was a Dutch centenarian who inherited the "oudste van het land" title after the death of 112-year-old Grietje Jansen-Anker of Vlissingen,[1]
Biography
Bertha Laurentia Maria Coleta van Hasselt was born in Roosendaal, Netherlands, on 24 November 1901. She was born and lived in Roosendaal until age 98 and moved to a Breda nursing home in 2000. On 24 November 2001, she turned 100. She was the oldest person alive in the Netherlands for only three days between 13 October 2009 and her death on 16 October 2009,[2] making her the first oldest living person in the Netherlands born in the 1900s, and the 20th century.
She died in Breda, Netherlands at the age of 107 years, 326 days. After her death, 107-year-old Wijtske van Dijk-Meindersma became the new oldest person alive in the Netherlands.[3]
