Beryl Ada Le Gros (née de la Haye; 30 August 1910 – 31 January 2019) was a centenarian from Jersey.

Biography[]

Beryl Le Gros was born as Beryl Ada de la Haye in Jersey, Channel Islands on 30 August 1910. Her father, John-Joshua de la Haye, owned a garage at Pontac, the Eastern Motorworks. Beryl remained in the Island during the Occupation and said that they were not deprived and were very lucky. She married Cyril Le Gros who died in 1985. She trained as a teacher after leaving school before changing career to work as an office assistant at an accountancy firm. She went to Trinity school and then trained as a teacher at the Jersey Pupil Teacher Centre. Beryl Le Gros died in Maison La Corderie care home, St. Helier, Jersey on 31 January 2019 at the age of 108 years, 154 days. At the time of her death she was believed to be oldest living person in the Bailiwick of Jersey.
