Bessie Riordan was born in Douglas, Illinois, USA on 30 July 1882, the daughter of Andrew and Charlotte Kennedy Riordan. Her step-parents were Beni and Lottie Hunter. She married George Earl Heller in Knox, Illinois, USA on 10 October 1906. The couple had three children: Leonard, Gladys and Margaret.
