Betsy "Grandma Lemmers" Lemmers-Kustner ( (5 April 1910 – 22 April 2018) was a Surinamese centenarian who was the oldest (known) living person in Suriname at the time of her death.

Biography[]

Betsy Lemmers was born in Dutch Guiana (now Suriname) on 5 April 1910.

Lemmers had two children (including Geert Lemmers) and took good care of them. Until the age of 99, she did some social work.

In December 2016, Lemmers met Ingrid Bouterse-Waldring, former first lady of Suriname and danced with her.

On her 108th birthday in 2018, The vice president of the National Assembly, Melvin Bouva, gave a present to Lemmers. At least one of her children was living on her birthday.

Lemmers died in Paramaribo, Suriname on 22 April 2018 at the age of 108 years, 17 days. She was survived by her son Geert. At the time of her death, she was the oldest known living person in Suriname. The title of oldest known living person in Suriname then went to Toeni Deel and oldest known living woman went to Louise Gummels.
