Blanche Marie Nelly Grosdidier (née Leonard [French: Léonard]; 3 October 1889 – 10 October 2001) was a French supercentenarian whose age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG). At the time of her death, she was the second-oldest living person in France, after Germaine Haye.
Biography[]
Blanche Grosdidier was born as Blanche Leonard in Brixey-aux-Chanoines, Meuse, Grand Est, France on 3 October 1889. Her parents were Eugene Leonard (1856–fl.1926) and Marie Hostier (1857–fl.1926). She had at least three sisters: Marie (1887–1887), Georgette (1888–1965), and Juliette (1893–1978).
On 7 July 1975, she married a man with the family name Grosdidier. Her age was verified by Jean-Marie Robine, and (posthumously) validated by the GRG on 8 January 2004.
Blanche Grosdidier died in Clermont, Oise, Hauts-de-France, France on 10 October 2001, at the age of 112 years, 7 days. Next to Clothilde Roy, she was the penultimate French person to have been born in 1889.
