Bruno Kant (born 26 February 1916) is a German centenarian who is currently the oldest known living man and world war II veteran in Germany.

Biography[]

Bruno Kant was born in Werblin, Saxony, Germany, on 26 Febuary 1916. His family fled during the first world war which forced them to leave their home. During the second world war, Kant was drafted into the Wehrmacht and fought in the invasion of the Soviet Union and was injured, so that he was brought back to Germany. After his recovery, he was send back to the Eastern Front. He later came back to Germany in 1948 after 3 years of soviet war captivity. It was "the most beautiful day of his life" to finally see his mother again.

After the war, he became a priest in 1950. He was active in the church as a priest until the age of 100. He still pays visits to sick people in his community even after turning 100. Since his 99th birthday in 2015, his community always visited him with many people attending his birthday. At the time of his 108th birthday, he still walked with the help of a walker and has no health issues.

On 1 November 2025, following the passing of 110-year-old Karl Haidle, he became the oldest known living WWII veteran and man in Germany.

Bruno Kant currently lives in Eichenzell, Hesse, Germany at the age of 109 years, 345 days. He has been a priest for 74 years and is Germany's oldest living priest.

Kant has been the last living man in Germany born in 1916 since the death of Paul Philip on 11 July 2024. He became the last German man born in 1916 following the death of Jules Kohler, who had been residing in France, on 21 November 2024.

Family Longvity[]

Kant had a sister who died one day before her 100th birthday. his older sister Elisabeth Schwarzkopf died in 2022 shortly before her 108th birthday. His younger brother Johannes (14 May 1918 - 6 Febuary 2024) was 2 years younger than him and together they held the record of the oldest living brothers in Germany and possibly the oldest living brothers in the world until Johannes died in 2024.
