Carrie Letitia Lawson (née Northey; 10 April 1896 – 22 February 2009) was an American supercentenarian whose age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).
Biography[]
Carrie Letitia Northey was born to Albert and Carrie (née Thompson) Northey on 10 April 1896, in Okoboji, Iowa. She married William John Lawson on 1 January 1919, and the couple had four children: Ruth, Jean, Elwin, and Marshall.
Lawson and her husband farmed for 50 years in Excelsior Township, Iowa, until they retired and moved to Milford, Iowa. She was a member of Excelsior Methodist Church from her youth and taught Sunday School and Bible School.
Her paternal cousin Helen Huling (1897–1998) lived to the age of 100 and her maternal cousin Edna Holmes (1894–1997) lived to the age of 102/103.
Letitia Lawson died in Milford, Iowa, on 22 February 2009 at the age of 112 years, 318 days. At the time of her death, she had 11 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and five great-great grandchildren.
