Cacilia Buchinger [German: Cäcilia Buchinger] (27 September 1901 – 6 August 2012) was a validated Austrian supercentenarian who, at the time of her passing, was the oldest living person in Austria.
Biography
Cacilia was born in Lohnsburg, Upper Austria on 27 September 1901. She had nine siblings. Her father lived to more than 90 years and her twin sister lived to 102 years. In 1914, she came to Salzburg, where she worked as a housemaid, cook, seamstress and business manager in a trading company. She married Johann Buchinger, but the couple had no children.
Following the passing of Hermine Nistler on 13 February 2012, Cacilia Buchinger became the oldest living person in Austria. At 110, she still lived at home and moved to retirement home just one month before her death. Her age was validated by the Gerontology Research Group on 7 July 2012. She died in Salzburg on 6 August 2012 at the age of 110 years, 314 days.
