Camila Goncalves [Portuguese: Gonçalves] (23 October 1911 – 21 August 2023) was a Portuguese-born Brazilian supercentenarian whose age is currently unvalidated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG). At the time of her death, she was the oldest known living Portuguese-born person.
Biography[]
Camila Goncalves was born in Portugal on 23 October 1911. She had at least one daughter, Emilia Goncalves Araujo (aged 92 in August 2023), and one son-in-law, Adriano Araujo.
Her son-in-law is the founder of Inal (Industria Nacional de Artefatos de Latex), currently known as Inatex, a condom manufacturer from Sao Roque, Sao Paulo.
In 1958, her daughter and son-in-law emigrated to Brazil. A few years later, she decided to join them.
In October 2021, she celebrated her 110th birthday and became a supercentenarian.
She became the oldest known living Portuguese-born person, following the death of 113-year-old Maria da Encarnacao Sousa on 20 July 2022.
Camila Goncalves died in Sao Paulo City, Sao Paulo, Brazil on 21 August 2023 at the age of 111 years, 302 days. At the time of her death, she had at least one grandson, Jose Goncalves Araujo, and one great-grandson, Denis.
