Caridad "Caring" Cu Unjieng Papa (14 August 1913 – 4 January 2024) was a Filipino-American supercentenarian whose age is currently unvalidated by Gerontology Research Group (GRG). She was one of the oldest known living people in the U.S. state of California at the time her death.
Biography[]
Caridad Papa was born in Manila, Philippines on 14 August 1913 to China born Guillermo Cu-Unjieng (1867–1953) and his wife Dominga Ayala along with 6 other siblings.
In May 1951 (aged 37), Papa immigrated to New York (likely Ellis Island) by plane. In July 1951 (also aged 37), Caridad went on a trip to Agana, Guam. In September 1986 (aged 73), Caridad finally immigrated to Los Angeles, California, USA.
On August 14, 2023, Papa celebrated her 110th birthday and became a supercentenarian.
Caridad Papa died in Monrovia, California, USA, on 4 January 2024, at the age of 110 years, 143 days.
