Caroline Campistron (née Maurette Mauche [French: Mauché]; 27 May 1867 – 2 March 1978) was a French supercentenarian whose age has been validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).
Biography[]
Caroline Campistron was born as Caroline Maurette Mauche in Paris, Ile-de-France, France, on 27 May 1867. On 5 February 1891, she married Bertrand Campistron, a jeweller, in Toulouse. She later moved to Charente-Maritime, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, France.
In October 1975, Campistron spent a day in Paris. At the time, she was reported to be in good health, eating well, and she only accepted a wheelchair when she visited the Maison de la Radio. In her last years, she lived with one of her granddaughters in Rochefort.
In March 1977, at the age of 109, Campistron voted during the 1977 French municipal elections.
Caroline Campistron died in Rochefort, Charente-Maritime, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, France on 2 March 1978, at the age of 110 years, 279 days. She was survived by two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was the second-oldest living person in France at the time of her death, behind only Marie-Virginie Duhem of Hauts-de-France.
